Farley Studio Entry is in!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Picassa slideshow was working on my Safari browser, but not my Firefox.

We’ve been shooting pics for the Farley Studio and putting them together for a presentation. Pretty intense week and weekend but I’m VERY happy with the pics. I was running around the building like mad at sunset, I think I CAN be in two places at once!

The awesome site plans and exploded axo’s are from fab Jett of fodastudio who is so talented I just want to slap him…

It looks pretty good huh??? I hadn’t been in the finished space and it won my heart. As usual, it felt playful but calming, daring but appropiate, unexpected as always. The good thing about MJ is that he doesn’t stop surprising me, when I think I have him figured out, he goes off in a completely new direction, EVERY SINGLE TIME…

If you don’t believe me, wait until we post the almost finished Pilates Studio and especially the Wolfe Den, which is well underway… I’m green with envy with that project… I want it to be mine!!!

I’m also really getting into the photography part of the studio. I was quite shy at the beginning, but after the success with these, the pilates studio pictures, and a project for another architect using a Hasselblad, I’m starting to get requests to shoot other people’s work too. Bring it on!

Wolfe Den: pour!!!

Just pics today. We need to update this blog soon. We have little time and a flurry of new projects. But for now let’s share the pics of “P day” (POUR DAY), the Wolfe Den is under construction!Photobucket - Video and Image HostingMike and John, for luck.Photobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image HostingPhotobucket - Video and Image HostingThis is where we’re headed:

Farley Foto Flurry

So here’s what you can get for a bit over 150k:-) Again, Kyle is an artist living in Clebourne, Texas. He needed a super economical painting studio where he could live too.

Metal superstructure with metal sips; exposed plywood, polycarbonate, galvanized corrugated metal skin. Formed within the slab are a fire pit and a channel for artist clean up. If anyone tells me again we’re expensive EVER…. I’m sending them here.

First pics of our WOOFA (A doghouse and/or a sofa)

Some of the first pictures I took before I run out of battery and changed to film camera. The light was really good at sunset so I shot a million rolls… I’ll be updating again. We’re exhausted but happy. Woof, woof, woofa!!!!

Oh and WOOFA won “Most Original Doghouse Concept!” yey

Just like we like it, we’lll take that one, over any other, any day;-)

Snoopy…

… that’s what Mike is calling it. That’s the knot in the wood we are building the dog house with…it looks like a DOG!!! Wild…

The plywood is Formaldehyde-free plywood from managed forests, it will have a No-VOC rubberized coating.

Dogs Hate Dog Houses; Dogs Love Sofas

I don’t even know where to begin. We’re presenting stuff like mad. Remodels, houses on the lake, houses on cliffs, houses in town, houses in the country, more remodels… and a dog house.
I’ll get around to posting about it all but let’s begin with that last one, it’s for Barkitecture Austin.

Our dog house/sofa is called WOOFA.

It’s a dog house that becomes an outdoor sofa (well, two really.) Like they say, a picture (or three) is worth a thousand words.
The glorious text comes from this blog that indispensable Jett of FODA Studio found.

All for charity… for the hounds. Design Within Reach is putting it together. We love the hounds, we love DWR. But we love John and Mike most of all because they are probably at the warehouse, right now, up to their eyebrows in sawdust, and it’s late, and it looks so incredible… get this, there was a little dog drawn in the wood, a wood knowt that looked like a dog, what are the odds???

What a shot!

The local gas company building in Barcelona by Miralles and Tagliabue. Did you see the bird at the top??? We can sell this pic any day. Way to go MJ! So yes, we have been in Europe for two weeks. Barcelona and then the beach… at Calella de Palafrugell and back to Barcelona. It’s a deal, we’re going back in June/July and we will work from the beach. Why not?

Awards the Interior Designers Way

I get bored stiff at some of the award parties that we’ve had to go to. But Chicago was fun, fast, and furious. The Interior Designers kicked some butt. This was the IIDA awards party last year… And we got to sit at the same table with Her Highness Eva Maddox. I’ve been dying to post these, but we didn’t have a blog then, so here they are. M. J. in a tux, was almost too much for me, and all the quasi-naked boys and girls didn’t cool things down any.
